We have made it to the end of the Autumn term! How the time has flown. I am so proud of the progress that every child in Wrens has made. Everyone has a real enthusiasm for learning, and all of the class have a really good ‘have a go’ attitude. Thank you to all of you as parents for attending your child’s parent’s evening over the last two Wednesdays. I hope you found the meetings useful and enjoyed hearing about your child’s successes so far.
This week we enjoyed the whole school Harvest assembly, and we hope you enjoyed our rendition of dingle dangle scarecrow! One of our new curriculum ambitions is to ensure that all of the children in Wrens take part in performances to others. We have a few more lined up and I’m sure they will get better each time! Singing and performing in front of the whole school and parents can be a bit daunting but I was proud of the children having a go and trying their best. We have also been learning about Diwali this week and have spoken about other special holidays and events that we have celebrated in the past. To support our learning about Diwali, we made diva lamps and rangoli patterns in our Forest Friday session.
A big thank you to the parents who have donated money to support our Reception class. We have already started ordering some fantastic resources for our outdoor area to further support your child’s learning. We have ordered a dressing up unit for outside to make our stage and performance area more accessible and to encourage independence in play and we are waiting for some natural resources to support maths outside too. The resources we are ordering with the kind donations from parents are a mix of things we need to replace or replenish and other items which the children in Wrens have asked for. We ask the children often about what they like about our reception class as well as asking them what changes they would implement if they were the class teacher.
I hope everyone has a restful half term.
