Welcome to Falcons! The class have already made a brilliant start to the year and we can’t wait to see all the amazing learning that lies ahead.
Falcons are taught by Mrs. Helen Martin with TA support from Mrs. Jo Scott and Mrs. Allen. On Tuesday afternoons Miss Sam McDonald teaches the class whilst Mrs. Martin has her PPA time.
As of January 2026, we have 29 children in our class. Our class has all the Year 4 children in our school (13 children) within it alongside 16 Year 5 children.
At the moment, we’re putting lots of support in place for our Year 4 children with learning their multiplication facts up to 12 × 12. This isn’t just about preparing them for the multiplication check later in the year, but because knowing multiplication tables really well is such an important life skill. It also helps build the foundations for the trickier maths the children will be tackling in the future.
We’re also focusing on reading, encouraging children to enjoy a wide range of texts. We believe it’s just as important to read to learn as it is to read for pleasure, so we’re helping the children to read a good mix of books – some they love to curl up with and others that stretch their reading skills and broaden their knowledge.
Home learning is another important part of our routine. Completing it each week helps to reinforce the things we’ve been learning in class and builds positive learning habits that will really help the children as they move through school.
Finally, remember that you’re always welcome to come and see us if you’d like to talk about your child and their progress.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support; it makes such a difference and we’re really looking forward to the year ahead.
