Robins are taught by Miss Jo Allen on Mondays – Wednesdays and Miss Sian Dunham on Wednesdays – Fridays. Both teachers are in on a Wednesday when Miss Allen teaches the class for part of of the day whilst Miss Dunham has her PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) and Leadership release time and then the teachers swap.
There are 14 Year One children in our class.
In Robins, we build on the strong foundations developed in Wrens. Our curriculum allows children to develop greater independence, resilience and confidence while continuing to enjoy learning in a supportive and nurturing environment.
The class have PE on Tuesday and Friday so will need their PE kit and trainers in school on these days. Please make sure all belongings are clearly labelled.
We encourage daily reading at home and Maths and Phonics homework is sent home on Thursday. Home Learning needs to be completed and books must be returned to school by the following Tuesday.
Phonics and Reading information
In Robins, there is a big focus on phonics as this is the building blocks for successful reading and writing. We use Bug Club Phonics and all children are able to access ebooks at home.
