Our topic in Computing is Data Detectives and we have been exploring what databases are and how they work. We have enjoyed the challenge of working with complex data sets and solving problems using the information they uncover.
Throughout the unit, we have looked at key vocabulary such as search, sort, filter and link and we have been applying these skills to investigate different scenarios, answer questions and draw conclusions from the data. I have been impressed with how quickly the children have picked up this new terminology and used it accurately and independently.
We have enjoyed the detective-style activities where we have had to think carefully about what information is needed and how to carefully analyse the information.
