Happy Easter from everyone in Wrens! Friday 27th March 2026

What a wonderful end to the Spring term we have had in Wrens. We have been looking forward to the egg hunt which was kindly arranged by the PTA and we have also enjoyed being reflective when thinking back about the things we have learnt since our time started in Reception. This week we have also said goodbye to both Ms Isher and Mrs Williams. I know you will join me and the children in wishing them the best of luck for the future.

In Phonics this week we have been revisiting the sounds ‘ow’, ‘ear’ and ‘air’ as these were the sounds highlighted as needing some additional practise through our assessments of the class. Hearing all of the children read earlier this week, I am always amazed at just how much progress they make during the Spring term- their resilience and determination is always inspiring. I have also set some more books for your children to read at home through our Bug Club EBook library. Their log ins are glued in the front of their reading logs.

In Drawing Club this week our text focus has been Doctorsaurus and the children found the text very funny! Inspired by the text we made our own split pin dinosaurs and drew a picture of a dinosaur in need of help and then wrote a sentence about it.

In Maths this week we have finished our unit about 3D shapes ready to start our new learning when we return for the Summer term! There have also been slight amendments to our class timetable for after the Easter Holidays so please do read through our class page and look at the timetable to find the most up to date version. I have also uploaded the new curriculum overview for Summer 1 so that you can see what we will be learning when we come back to school.

I know you will also join me in welcoming Mrs Skeggs who will be teaching the class during my PPA on Fridays and Miss Ford who will be the new Wrens Class TA after the Easter break. The children met both Miss Ford and Mrs Skeggs after they had been appointed so that the children could get to know the new adults who will be working in Wrens and the adults can get to know the children too. Thank you to Mrs. Skeggs and Miss Ford for taking the time to come in and support the children’s transition.

I hope you all have a restful break,

Mrs Chattey
