Exploring autumn – Friday 16th October 2026

It’s been another busy week in Swifts class.

In English this week, the children have worked hard on their list poems all about autumn. We ventured into the rainy showers to collect autumnal objects to help write our poems. We shared their fantastic poem during the harvest assembly!

For maths, we have focussed on using cubes and number lines to help with adding two-digit and one-digit numbers.

This week in PSHE, the children created their own healthy habits routines using everything we have learned so far. We discussed how small, positive choices can help us to stay healthy and feel our best.

During PE, we practised creating low-level and medium-level shapes in gymnastics. We also enjoyed teamwork games that challenged us to control a ball and work together successfully.

Our science learning took us outdoors as we investigated camouflage and how animals hide from predators. Swifts camouflaged moths within the school surroundings and explored how being difficult to spot can help an animal survive.

Have a wonderful weekend.
