Aztec Workshop- Monday 19th October 2026

Today, Falcons took part in an exciting Aztec workshop. Throughout the morning, the children learned about the lives, beliefs and achievements of the Aztec people, including their homes, clothing, food, language, gods and number system.

The workshop was very interactive, and the children enthusiastically joined in with traditional chanting, played drums, rattles, conch shells and other instruments, took part in role play and joined a torch-led procession in costume. They also explored a range of artefacts and discovered the importance of codices, sacred animals and religious ceremonies in Aztec life.

The children were particularly interested in learning about traditional Aztec foods, the importance of chocolate, ancient weapons and how the Aztecs used a base-20 number system. They also learned about the role of sacrifices in Aztec society, although I was pleased to report that all Falcons returned safely to the classroom afterwards!

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, asking thoughtful questions and bringing their history learning to life through such a memorable experience.
