As part of our citizenship learning in PSHE, Owls were joined by three magistrates in class this week, who spoke to the children about their important role in the community. They discussed how the legal system works in Britain and about court case procedures, including the different roles people have in court.
Our children then took part in a mock court case about cyber-bullying, using a script. Three children then took on the role of the magistrates and came to a ‘guilty’ decision! Children then discussed possible and appropriate punishments and the reasons for their decision. There was then an opportunity for a question and answer session, which was a really valuable experience for our pupils.
