Circus Workshop and Science Week in Wrens. Friday 13th March 2026

What a busy week we have had in Wrens! The sun has been shining, and we have enjoyed Science week and our Circus workshop. It was so amazing to see the resilience and determination shown during our circus workshop this week. All of the children tried the activities, and no one gave up, we even put on a performance to our friends at the end of the workshop. I hope you enjoy the photos!

This week in Phonics we have finished learning all of the new graphemes which we cover in Reception. All of the graphemes we have learnt can be found here on our school website : Phase 2: https://www.pirtonschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Phase-2-sound-mat.pdf

In Maths this week we have continued to explore the composition of 10 and used part part whole models to partition 10 into 3 parts. We have also been doubling numbers again this week and we can recall doubling facts very quickly now!

In Drawing club this week our text provocation has been Captain Pugwash, Monster Ahoy and we have enjoyed making pirate themed crafts and writing about our own sea monsters.

It has been Science week this week and we have loved exploring different science experiments. We explored what happens when bicarbonate of soda and vinegar is mixed together when we made our own puffer fishes (definitely the favourite experiment of the week), learnt about capillary action when exploring how water wicks into absorbent materials.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and Mothers Day,

Mrs Chattey
