D&T in Owls- 3.3.26

Our first Design & Technology lesson of the term built on our geography learning about seasonal foods. We discussed how the time of year influences the foods we grow, buy, and cook.

We tasted a range of seasonal fruits and vegetables including apples, pears, beetroot and carrots. We also tasted foods cooked in different ways included roasted and sautéed.

We had an opportunity to develop our chopping, grating, and peeling skills. These are food-preparation techniques that will be very helpful when we make our own soup.

We also looked at different vegetable soup recipes, comparing ingredients and methods for when we design our very own seasonal vegetable soup next week.
