DT – Thursday 21st May

This week we were very fortunate to share some of our learning with parents when they joined us for a paired learning session. This half term our DT lessons have been focused on learning how to make things move using different mechanisms. We have investigated slider, lever and linkage mechanisms and explored the different components needed to make each mechanism work. Our final product was to make a greeting card with one of these mechanisms as a moving part. The children had created some wonderful designs that showed which mechanism they would use and how it would move. When parents joined us on Thursday we gave them a very quick lesson on how each mechanism is made and then they supported us to make our greetings cards. Our parents were very impressed by the skills the children had already developed and the knowledge of vocabulary we had acquired. Everyone had a great time and the finished products look amazing. Well done Swifts and parents for a wonderful time of learning together.
