First full week in Swifts Friday 11th September

Swifts have had a lovely first week! The children have continued to settle into our classroom routines.

In maths, we have been developing our understanding of numbers, using Base 10 and counters to represent numbers up to 20 before moving on to exploring numbers up to 100 using place value charts.

In English, we have started our new book The Frog and the Stranger, and have been practising writing sentences using conjunctions to join our ideas together.

We have also begun our new art topic, still life. The children enjoyed exploring our classroom art gallery and sketching artwork inspired by the pieces they discovered.

We were also lucky enough to take part in a live lesson celebrating Julia Donaldson’s new book Gruffalo Granny, which finished with some lovely drawing.

It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more confident, independent and excited about their learning.

Have a wonderful weekend!
