This week, Falcons have been working on using formal methods to calculate, including exchanging, to strengthen our understanding of number operations. The children have explored these methods using a range of manipulatives, such as place value counters and base ten equipment, to make connections between practical and written strategies. We have also focused on using accurate place value vocabulary to explain our thinking clearly and confidently. In addition, the children have been engaging with feedback to help them improve the presentation of their written methods, ensuring their work is neat, organised, and easy to follow.
