In art this week, we explored how to create warm and cool colours. We looked closely at the colour wheel and identified which colours were warm and which were cool. We talked about how colours can make us feel different emotions and how artists can use colour to create a particular mood or atmosphere. We experimented with mixing colours and thought carefully about how changing the colours we use can change the feeling of a piece of artwork. We also discussed the colours we naturally associate with things such as sunshine, fire, water and ice, and considered why these colours give us different feelings. The children really enjoyed experimenting with the different colour combinations and seeing how warm and cool colours could work together.
