This week in Wrens I have been impressed with the children’s phonic knowledge and application of this knowledge when reading. I am also looking forward to meeting you all on parents evening over the next two weeks!
This week in Phonics we have learnt the phonemes (sounds) for the graphemes (letters) c, k, ck and e. This week in your child’s homework books, please make sure to practise forming the letter k as this can be a very tricky letter to form. In our Phonics lesson, the children gave it a really good go and had a resilient attitude to their learning.
In Maths this week we have continued to subitise, and I have asked the children how they know that their answer was correct. The children have impressed me with their mathematical reasoning. We have also been enjoying exploring the dice.
In Drawing Club this week we used a short, animated clip from the cartoon Popeye to inspire our writing. We wrote the initial sound for an adjective to describe a sea monster and then chose a special superpower for our sea monster to have. I am so proud of the resilience and positivity that the children demonstrate when writing in these sessions.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Chattey
