Science- Friday 16th October 2026

This week in Science, we investigated the question, ‘Which toothpastes are the most effective at protecting teeth from decay and why?’ Using eggs to represent teeth, we compared a £10 Oral-B toothpaste, a 65p Aldi toothpaste and a control egg with no toothpaste. After allowing the toothpaste to coat the eggs overnight, we submerged them in vinegar to model the effect of acid on tooth enamel. We observed the eggs over two days to see the changes. We found out that the control egg showed the most damage, while the eggs coated in toothpaste were better protected, although all the eggs were damaged. So make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, Falcons!
