Science- Monday 20th October 2025

This week in Science, we explored the results of our investigation into whether sugary drinks cause tooth decay. We used eggs as it is similar to the enamel on teeth. We discovered that water caused no damage to the eggshell at all, while cola changed its colour and milk stripped the shell of its natural shade. Surprisingly, we found that orange juice caused the most damage, leaving the shell bumpy, soft and worn away. After carefully observing and recording our findings, we wrote up our conclusions and evaluations, thinking about what our results showed us. Next time, we would like to test different liquids and leave the investigation running for longer to see if this changes our results.
