Science week: 9th -13th March

This week in Robins, we have been celebrating Science Week with a science activity every day! We learnt about how exercise affects our heart rate. The children counted their pulse after light exercise and then again after some intense exercise. We found out the more you exercise, the harder and faster your heart beats.

We also watched a video about winter and observed the weather for the day. We talked about the kinds of activities we would do in specific types of weather.

On Wednesday, we used some STEM skills, such as being creative, working collaboratively and solving problems, to make a car that moved. We learnt about the different ways we can attach the wheels and showed lots of resilience when things didn’t go to plan. The children then tried different methods to make the car move- pushing it, blowing it and rolling it down a slope.

We went for a nature walk around the school to hunt for signs of spring. We found buds growing on trees, a bird nest, frogspawn, daffodils and daisies, and blossom.
