Talking about emotions- 16.10.26

What a wonderful and busy week we have had in Year 1! The children have been exploring some big ideas, focusing on our own inner emotions and learning how to look outward with gratitude.

We have been talking all about our feelings. We discussed how all emotions are normal and how our faces look when we feel happy, sad, excited, or worried. To bring this to life, the children drew these different expressions to create their very own pairs game.
Once they finished, everyone teamed up with a partner to test out their creations! It was fantastic to watch them practice taking turns, sharing, and chatting about the different feelings on their cards.

We have also been learning about gratitude and the autumn season. We investigated the journey of food, discussing exactly where the ingredients for bread come from—from wheat growing in the farmer’s fields to the flour ground at the mill.
Today we got to taste some delicious homemade bread. It was very fun and the children were excited to try and make their own bread at home!
