Taotie Art in Owls – 10.12.25

In Art, we have been learning about what a Toatie is. A taotie is a gluttonous creature in Chinese mythology, which is always hungry no matter how much it eats. Its name translates to ‘legendary voracious beast’. Images of taotie appear on ancient Chinese bronze artefacts, such as masks and ritual vessels called dings. We have looked at and drawn different artefacts with toaties on and learnt how bronze vessels were made using piece-mould casting. We then explored different casting methods including silicone, clay and paper casting.
