Tutankhamun Experience – Thursday 12th June

On Thursday 12th June we visited the Tutankhamun Experience at the Excel in London. We had an amazing time learning about the history of ancient Egypt, the life of Tutankhamun, the discovery of his tomb by Howard Carter and the process of mummification. This experience involved real and replica artefacts from ancient Egypt and we saw a real sarcophagus. In the immersive room we were taken on a ‘trip down the Nile’ as the walls and floor had moving images. This was very surreal as we felt like we were moving! We also experienced what it was like to be inside the tomb of Tutankhamun through the use of VR headsets and headphones. The process of mummification was shown in a 3D video. This day was unlike any other school trip we have experienced and the use of technology really brought ancient Egypt to life. We are extremely fortunate as the experience closes at the end of June but we know this is a trip we will remember for a long time!
