Wednesday 22nd April in Owls

Owls had an incredibly busy and exciting day today. We began the morning with our paired learning activity and it was wonderful to see so many parents joining us in the classroom. Our first lesson marked the start of our new mixed‑media art topic. The children explored a range of paper‑craft techniques, including collage, quilling and origami. They experimented with textures, shapes and layering and it was fantastic to see their creativity.

This afternoon, we welcomed a visitor who delivered an engaging session on cyber security. The children learned how to protect their personal information online, why strong passwords matter and how to stay safe when using digital devices.

We ended the day by celebrating World Earth Day. We discussed some of the environmental challenges our planet is facing and explored practical ways we can all make a positive difference. The children then calculated their own carbon footprints using the WWF Footprint Calculator and compared their results. This led to a discussion on small changes we can make in our daily lives to help protect the Earth.

If you would like to explore your own carbon footprint at home, you can try the same tool the children used: https://footprint.wwf.org.uk/. It’s a great way to spark discussion and reflect on the impact of our choices.
