Welcome back everyone. It was lovely to meet with so many parents this week to share your child’s successes and next steps for the rest of their time in Reception. I am looking forward to talking to more of you next Wednesday.
This week in Phonics the children have continued to impress me whilst we have been learning the phonemes ‘ur’, ‘er’ ‘ow’ and ‘or’. Everyone has made amazing progress with their letter formation and their knowledge of the graphemes learnt to date. Keep up the good work Wrens!
This week in our Drawing club lessons we have enjoyed listening to the traditional tale of the Ugly duckling and have been writing sentences about the setting and how the duckling actually turned out to be a swan!
In Maths this week we have started our new White Rose topic of building 9 and 10. Mrs Williams and I were very impressed when we used dominoes this week and the children explained that if there were 6 dots on one side and 4 dots on the other, that the total was 10. Some children were even able to use multiple dominoes and quickly calculate how many dots there were all together.
We have also been working hard to practise for our upcoming sharing assembly on the 4th March. We can’t wait to show you and tell you about all the wonderful learning we have been doing.
We have a busy few weeks with the sharing assembly, World Book Day (6th March) and our circus workshop (11th March). We are all very excited for Spring 2.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone,
Mrs Chattey
