Welcome back for the Summer Term. Friday 17th April 2026

A warm welcome to both Mrs Skeggs and Miss Ford, who this week, joined the Reception team. We have had a super start to the Summer term and the children have enjoyed their balance bike lessons with me and have enjoyed observing the tadpoles grow and change each day.

In Phonics this week we have been revisiting the phonemes ‘ar’, ‘or’ and ‘ur’ and have been writing words containing these sounds. We have also been applying our phonic knowledge independently when writing this week and it has been lovely to see the children grow in confidence when writing and reading.

In Drawing club this week we have used the animation of Bagpuss to inspire our writing. I was very impressed with the children’s application of their phonic knowledge when writing, particularly because this week we have started to send all of the children to do their writing at the same time which means sometimes they may have to wait a minute or two for help. Everyone has been incredible improvers and have shown us how independent and resourceful they can be!

In Maths this week we have been looking at building numbers larger than 10 and the children easily spotted that numbers 11-19 were 10 and some more.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the Summer term brings!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Chattey

  1. These balance bikes look amazing Wrens. I know that Mrs. Chattey attended some training in order to support you to learn to ride bikes and that the training gave us these bikes. Thank you to Mrs. Chattey for attending the training and teaching you all to ride safely.

  2. Wow the balance bikes look so fun! What a great resource for the children to have access to. The children are getting so grown up now to all do their writing work at once, thank you for all your hard work Mrs Chattey and welcome to the new members of the team.
