Welcome back and what a chilly start to the Spring term we have had! The children however thoroughly enjoyed learning all about snow earlier in the week and we have been again looking at and thinking about the changing seasons.
This week in Phonics we have been learning the sounds (phonemes) that some digraphs (2 letters that make one sound) make. we have learnt, sh, th and ng this week. To meet the Early Learning Goal in Reception for Word Reading, children need to know all of the sounds for every letter of the alphabet plus at least 10 digraphs.
This week in Maths we have introduced our Alive in 5 unit of work and we have been learning everything about the numbers 0-5. We have been subitising and representing number and the children are becoming much more confident with articulating their mathematical knowledge.
This week in Drawing club we have written a dictated sentence as well as using our imagination to come up with our own captions about a setting.
Ms Isher also joined us this week and I know that the children have given her a warm Pirton Welcome!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and warm weekend!
